Dear Friends and Faithful Community,
On August 8, 2023, the devastating wildfires that swept through Maui left a trail of destruction in their wake. Among the countless structures lost was our beloved Lahaina United Methodist Church, a spiritual home that has stood as a beacon of hope and unity for over 150 years in Lahaina, Hawaii.
The church was not just a building; it was a gathering place where generations came together to worship, celebrate, and support one another through life's challenges. Its walls echoed with hymns, its halls hosted community events, and its doors were always open to those in need.
In the aftermath of this tragedy, our congregation finds itself without a physical home. Yet, our faith remains unshaken. We are determined to rebuild Lahaina United Methodist Church, restoring it to its former glory and ensuring it continues to serve as a pillar of our community.
To accomplish this monumental task, we are launching a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $750,000. These funds will cover:
  • Reconstruction of the Church Building: Restoring the sanctuary, community halls, and classrooms.
  • Essential Furnishings and Equipment: Pews, musical instruments, audio-visual systems, and other necessities for worship services.
  • Community Outreach Programs: Restarting initiatives that support the homeless, youth mentorship, and counseling services.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to resurrecting our spiritual home. Your generosity will not only rebuild walls but also restore a haven where love, support, and faith flourish.
We humbly ask for your support in this journey. Whether through a financial contribution or by sharing our story with others, your involvement is invaluable.
Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time. Together, with faith and determination, we can rise from the ashes and continue to serve the Lahaina community for generations to come.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Congregation of Lahaina United Methodist Church
